Praise the Lord. We say this when someone announces they are pregnant, the cancer is gone or you finally signed on the house. One of my favorite things to write on someone’s facebook wall is PTL (Praise the Lord)! I love sharing in these moments of triumph and joy with someone.
When someone wins an Oscar or a National Championship they say God gave them the victory. They thank Him for the victory and say he was on their side.
Really? Is God only to be praised and glorified when everything is right? Are we not supposed to “Praise the Lord” when we have to get chemo, when we don’t win, or (insert your negative reality you have had to deal with here)? I think the answer to that is no. Yes, in the hard times it is much, much harder to praise Him. I am queen of this. I do not want to say “Thank you Lord that I still can’t walk.” But, that is EXACTLY what praise looks like. Praising Him in every situation, because He has ordained all of it. I pray that one day I will be able to say “PTL” for my legs working again. But for now, I simply choose to praise the Lord for ALL that He has put in my life, even if it looks from a human perspective that I shouldn’t.
Beautiful post Ashley, and so very true. Thank you for that reminder!!
