I tend to get stressed pretty easily. I can get into my own head really quick. I start to get frustrated, I start to get aggitated, I stop focusing on the right things and start focusing on negative things. This Sunday in church Gary Purdy talked about getting our hearts right and not thinking on the wrong things. He said: "Are you remembering the Gospel?" I was struck. When I get nervous and stressed, I forget the Gospel. I forget His promise to always provide for me. I try to do it all on my own. I forget that He tells me to "come to Him when I am weary and burdened and He will give me rest." I try to be gentle and humble myself; guess what? On my own, I am not those things. On my own I am frantic and worried and overwhelmed. But when I remember the Gospel and remember His promises for my life, my stress melts and I am free to live in His grace. Today when stress, fear anxiety (or really any negative emotion comes in), remember the Gospel. Remember in that moment to trust God and His promises for your life.
