"We're in no hurry, God. We're content to linger in the path sign-posted with your decisions. Who you are and what you've done are all we'll ever want." -Isaiah 26:8 (The Message)
I have never read a verse before that I wanted to be true so badly but yet was so false in my life. I am in a hurry. I am tired of waiting; I am struggling at this whole “content” thing. It is so easy to say you are content when everything is good, but what do you do when things aren’t? How do you respond when the exact opposite of your plans happen?
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
What if you have not seen those desires come true yet? Does this mean you are not delighting yourself in the Lord? NO! God is doing a work in you that you can’t see yet, but He can. His plans are so great. Now, there is a lot of waiting in my life (and probably yours too) we live in a society that is go go go. We have calendars, schedules, alarm clocks. Every minute of every day is mapped out, so we get annoyed when we have to wait, even if it is just a red light, it can throw everything off. So waiting on the Lord is hard. It is not something we are naturally good at. I always think of a certain dr’s office when I think of this. They would tell me my appointment time for Tysabri, then we would rush to get there on time and sit in the waiting room for a while. Turns out, they tell you your appointment is 30 minutes before it actually is so people get there on time. But it was months before we learned that. We would sit and wait in confusion as to why it would take so long. Now we know and plan based on the 2nd time. I think this is how we are with waiting on God. We are sitting there and it doesn’t make sense, but once a piece is revealed to us we can begin to plan accordingly. Remembering God has a plan. though much of what He is putting us through is hard, we have to stay strong and always remember to stay content through all of it.
